About the Legal Ombudsman: what we do and why it matters

People rely on legal services at key times in their lives – whether it’s buying a home, dealing with bereavement, having issues at work, ending a marriage, or being involved in legal action. These things really matter – and that’s why the Legal Ombudsman really matters.

If people can’t sort out a problem with a legal provider, we’re here to resolve things fairly and as quickly as possible. And as we resolve individual complaints, we share learning and insight into what we’ve seen – helping prevent the same issues arising again.

If you join us, you’ll be part of our vision to be a leading and trusted Ombudsman scheme, where every complaint contributes to driving better legal services. This is part of our three-year strategy.

The part you could play

At LeO, most of our people work in roles focused on helping people with questions, concerns and complaints about the legal services they’ve received. You could join us as an adviser in our general enquiries team, as an investigator, or as one of our ombudsmen. Whatever role you join us in, we’re committed to giving opportunities for development and progression.

If your background is in corporate support, we also have opportunities for you. For example, you could play a vital role in delivering our service as part of our HR, IT, legal, communications, engagement and impact, finance, information rights and executive support teams. We are also developing our apprenticeship scheme.

What we offer

Everything we do is guided by our commitment to providing an excellent service and aligned with our core values – open, fair, independent and effective – which we expect everyone working here to champion.

In return, we offer:

  • Leave for carers, parents and other support to manage your responsibilities and commitments outside work.
