In the spotlight – updated cost guidance
The costs of legal services have featured prominently over recent months with the introduction of new regulatory rules on price transparency.
As complaints about costs consistently account for around 15% of the cases we investigate, we have taken this opportunity to update and refresh our costs guidance.
The guidance looks at how the price transparency rules may be taken into account in an investigation. It also highlights the importance of clear information about costs throughout a transaction and not just at the beginning.
Whether a complaint is about the initial price information, increasing costs, or when a customer may become liable for costs in a litigation case we often find that clear communication, or the lack of it, is an underlying issue.
