The Office for Legal Complaints (OLC) is consulting on its 2023/24 Budget and Business Plan for the Legal Ombudsman (LeO), together with an interim strategy for 2023-24. The consultation is open from 2 November to 14 December.
The consultation sets out the progress LeO has already made toward delivering a high level of service for users and providers of legal services. It details LeO’s plans to resolve more than 9,200 complaints by March 2024, with a focus on resolving cases as early as possible and substantially reducing waiting times.
To deliver this improvement in the context of significant inflation, the OLC is proposing a budget for LeO of £16.8 million, with a continued commitment to efficiency and value for money. Before pay and inflation on energy costs, LeO’s budget is broadly level year-on-year (1.4% higher than 2022/23).
The OLC and LeO welcome feedback from the widest possible range of stakeholders. The consultation is available on the consultations page of LeO’s website, together with details of how to respond.
The OLC will be developing and consulting on a longer-term strategy during 2023/24.
